Wedding pointers
We’ve assisted with many weddings over the years, so if you are just starting out, here are a few tips we hope will help you keep it together.
•Keep the big picture in mind. It is easy to get bogged down in details, and you will need to make countless very small decisions. Don’t get completely caught up in small things that could very well go unnoticed by most of your guests.
• Watching costs? Start with your guest list. The more people you invite, the costlier your wedding reception will be. It is simply not possible to have a lavish affair for 300 on the same budget as a wedding for 50. Alternatively, if you must have 300 guests, try to keep your reception very simple.
• Avoid “the usual” to control costs. Consider a Sunday wedding, or a time of day that does not require you to provide a full dinner with hors d’oeuvres. Look at breakfast or dessert-only receptions.
•Breathe. It is hard to do, but don’t let your wedding consume all your free time. Take time out to do some of your favorite things with your fiance, and keep in mind why you’re doing this!
Q: Could I get menus with pricing?
A: We have an extensive range of menus, and are glad to send sample menus via fax, mail or email (pdf files). Give us a call to let us know what kind of event you are planning, and the best way to send to you.
Q: How can I keep my wedding affordable?
A: The top four things that will determine the cost of your reception are:
•the number of guests you will invite
•the menu you select
•how formal your reception will be
•other services or rentals that are needed
The best way to keep costs under control is to set a reasonable and realistic budget, and stick to it.
Q: What kind of food do you serve?
A: We offer many choices, and our chef-designed menus include Asian-inspired items such as sushi, many traditional Italian and American dishes, and California favorites (hello, avocado!), and original creations such as our Honey Spiced Chicken or Rosemary & Black Pepper-Crusted Tri-tip. All menu items share a passion for flavor, freshness, and creativity, and our chef is talented at creating menus that offer both variety and integrity.
We offer vegetarian and vegan entrees as well, and most of our side dishes can be prepared to meet these dietary guidelines. We also offer kosher-style menus for bar and bat mitzvahs, and other Jewish celebrations.
Q: What kind of service do you provide?
A: We offer three basic types of catering service: drop-off service (no staff), buffet service, and full-service. Our staff includes professional wait-staff, bartenders, trained chefs and event coordinators.
Q: Do you provide references?
A: Yes; we are glad to provide references on request.
